PharmaT imes reports that advisers to the United States US Food and Drug Administration have voted 10-6 against recommending approval of the drug Qnexa® (phentermine/topiramate) for the treatment of obesity. Drugs to treat anxiety and sleep disorders are still being prescribed for extended periods to British Columbian patients – and i ncreasingly so for baby boomers – despite warnings against long-term use, according to a University of British Columbia study.
