Debate on female sexual dysfunction continues

The FDA’s recent rejection of a so-called female Viagra illustrates the divide between doctors on how to detect and treat low sexual desire in women, or if there is even any need to do so.

Advisory Panel Says FDA Should Not Approve Drug To Address Female Sexual Dysfunction

On Friday, an FDA advisory panel voted 11-0 against recommending FDA approval of a proposed treatment for hypoactive sexual-desire disorder, which decreases women’s sex drive, the Wall Street Journal reports. Sexual Enhancement Products Recalled – contain sildenafil analogue

The FDA announced this week that Atlas Operations has initi ated a recall of their dietary supplements marketed for “male enhancement”. Analysis revealed that some of the products contained sulfoaildenafil, a sildenaf il analogue.  This drug has the potential to cause dangerous decreases in blood pressure, especially for patients taking certain other medications such as nitroglycerin.  According to a press release from the company, (more…)
